The Douglas DC-3 was the best aircraft of its day, many would argue it was the greatest aircraft of all time. Design work started in 1934 at request of the American Airlines who wanted a longer DC-2 that could hold more people, plus another version with sleeping berths. The 14-berth Douglas was soon eclipsed by the 21-seat DC-3 which was both comfortable and very reliable. It could operate from concrete, grass and dirt sufaces and its crews considered it virtually indestructible. In addition to the 455 DC-3s made, 10,174 of the C-47 military version where also produced some of which still flying today(plz rate of u like, it took me 2 hours to make it perfect)
