KG-3
Hello! This is a thrid and most advanced iteration of my kinetic glider concept. It is much larger than the KG-2, an it also lacks the underwater capabilities, because its spinners are too big and glitch out when submerged, but I hope to make a naval version that can submerge like the KG-2.
It is also my first fully reusable kinetic glider. It can take off and land and take off again and land again etc, meaning that it can fly basically forever, anywhere.
Controls are, however, a bit more complicated than before. You need to spawn at any airport, and wait until the plane stabilizes (stops bouncing). Activate AG1 to start the spinners, now the glider is waiting for initial velocity. You'll have to put VTOL all the way up, that will make the tail gear extend and give the glider a little push. The spinners will then pick up the momentum and you will very slowly accelerate. When you are above 80-85mph, pitch up.
Once flying, set VTOL to middle. Now you will notice that you are very slow, so you will need to undergo a special maneuver that amplifies the effect of the spinners.
Basically, slowly ascend, then quickly pull down, pick up speed, slowly pull up, increase altitude, and again quickly descent. Do that two or three times, until you are going 200+ mph (the cruise speed). This is a very simple graph of the maneuver:
Landing is also tricky. You will notice that you have a series of wheels attached to the nose. Those are special landing wheels. Because there is no way to control the throttle or slow down mid-air, you will need to precisely line up with the runway and go very low. Don't worry if you're going over 200mph, that's the nominal landing speed. Now activate AG2, VTOL up and lower the landing gear. Now, if you activate brakes, the nose wheels will move down. Hold the brakes and land with the braking wheels extended. Once you stop, you can release the brakes and the plane will fall back on its standard landing gear. You can now disable AG2 and use your normal gear to slow down if for some reason you start to accelerate again.
Taking off again is the same procedure as described above.
