Chance Vought F-8 Crusader
The Crusader's origins were in a 1952 U.S. Navy requirement for a supersonic carrier-based fighter. In March 1955, the XF8U-1 prototype made its first flight and exceeded the speed of sound. The designation arose from the pre-1962 U.S. Navy system, in which it was the eighth fighter design from Chance Vought (which was assigned "U" as its company designation letter). From October 1962, the system was rationalized and F8Us became F-8s. Testing and evaluation were swift and the F8U-1, soon named "Crusader", was in service 2 years after first flying. This was in contrast to some other aircraft of the period (including Vought's own F7U Cutlass), which spent longer in development then they did in the fleet. Enjoy my version of this plane, with 4 missiles you can fire with detachers 1-4. Enjoy!
