C-47 Skytrain

The Douglas C-47 Skytrain or Dakota (designation of the RAF) is a low wing military transport aircraft (low wing) developed from Douglas DC-3 aircraft.

This aircraft was used extensively by the Allies during World War II and remained at the forefront of service with various military operators during 1950.

World War 2

In Europe, the C-47 and the special version for transporting more troops, known as the C-53 Skytrooper, are very widely used in warfare, specifically to attract gliders and charge troops. During the occupation of Sicily in July 1943, he proposed no less than 4,381 allied troops. In addition, no less than 50,000 paratroopers were deployed during the first few days of D-Day, also known as the Normandy Invasion, France, in June 1944. During the Pacific War, using several landing pads on several islands in the Pacific Ocean, this aircraft was used to bring the soldiers who served there back to the United States.
