Flag of South Africa
I apologize for not uploading flags last week, but I finished the decals for a collaboration with Shadowed. Anyways, this is the flag of one of the most powerful countries in Africa, and the only one so far that has created nuclear weapons. This is the flag of South Africa. While they are all now dismantled, South Africa held 5 nuclear weapons in the past. South Africa is known for being one of the largest producers of platinum metals in the world. The country produces almost 90% of all platinum metals. Platinum metals include Platinum (obviously), Iridium, and Osmium. South africa is also home to 41% of all the world's gold and is the country of origin for the 2 largest diamonds in the world, the Golden Jubilee, which weighs 546 carats (3.8 oz or 109g), and the Great Star of Africa, which weighed 3,106 carats (0.62 kg or 1.3 lbs) when it was discovered. Interestingly, the Great Star of Africa diamond is the head of the British Crown Jewels Sceptre for the British Royal Family. Enough on diamonds, though. Let's get to what the flag represents. The flag uses 6 different colors. To point out the rarity of that many colors being on a flag, there are only about 11 other countries with 6 or more colors on their flag. The green, which takes up a majority of the flag, represents their land’s fertility. The black symbolizes the people of South Africa. The gold symbolizes the nation’s mineral wealth. The “Y” shape that is made in green represents the converging of paths, while merging history and present political realities. The issue here is that the South African government never placed official meanings on the red, white, and blue colors. This is the flag of South Africa! I am going to try and release a much more complex flag on Wednesday.
I will not be uploading at all next week because I am going to start making the flag of Saudi Arabia! (Wish me luck)
