Scorcher
The Scorcher-class zeppelins were a series of airships built for the NE air service to use in the air campaign over the CIR in response to the decreasing effectiveness of Burner raids. In contrast with the Burners' landing raids, the Scorchers were to be used on bombing campaigns, being capable of flying much higher and with higher payloads than their smaller brethen.
In the end, only a handful were built owning to their expense and declining war situation. Of these five aircraft, only one was shot down in combat with a flight of Clothes Horses in a battle where most airplanes were damaged or shot down, but a last one managed to bomb the Scorcher in the air with light bombs, setting it alight. The rest were bombed on the ground by new CIR aircraft using mysteriously obtained intelligence (2) , one was burned and abandoned but served as one technical basis for the post-War zeppelin development and the last one mysteriously disappeared.
