Bell X-1

35.2k IzzyIA  7.2 years ago

This is my Bell X-1 that I made in honor of the 70 year anniversity of when man first went Mach 1. It was done by Chuck Yeager in this Aircraft after being dropped from a B-29 Superfortress Bomber.

The three big problems I have with my design is that you cannot go into cockpit view or you will see a wall, the flaps don’t look exactly like they were in real life, and there is no B-29 to bring it to high altitude. I plan to add a B-29 version of this, but I wanted to get this craft out as early as I could, since I am already a day late for the anniversary.

For landing, I would recommend flaps all the way down and throttle at 40%-45%

Controls:

Flaps: VTOL Lever

Throttle: Throttle Stick

Roll: Roll Stick

Pitch: Pitch Stick

P.S. I am open to suggestions to improve my craft

Speed brakes can actually act as flaps if you place them like I did, this was discovered by my friend ryma232aeronautics if you want to check him out. @Shadyslendie

Yeah that is why I added them, plus the Bell X-1 had flaps, although they looked different from my version @Shadyslendie

Yeah flaps are used to create more lift so your plane can fly at a lower speed so it can land easily @IzzyIA

Yes they are mainly used for landing @Shadyslendie
