F/A-20 Stinger
The F/A-20 is a Naval Fighter/Strike aircraft that will take over the role of the F/A-19 when its usage is no longer needed and need of a heavier strike package is put in play. It carries 5 missiles and 1 60 gallon tank on each wing. Detachers 1-5 to fire missiles and 6 to drop tanks.
:Fictional History: When the F/A-19 was put into service, the Board of Generals came together to come up with a full strike package in one plane. They had so many ideas but it could only come down to one. The Navy were the only people taken seriously with their idea of a 4 person jet with 2 pilots and 2 RIOs. of course there was some speculation that the idea was a little overboard but then I think the U.S. has crossed that a couple times (Ahem ahem nuclear weapons ahem ahem)! So their project was put through and was pushed into development ahead of the XF-25, a triple engine night fighter. When put into prototype testing they pushed the craft to its limits and in one horrific incident the jet lost its whole vertical stabilizer which is also connected to the horizontal stabilizers, losing its pitch and yaw controls in one fell swoop. Fortunately the pilot managed to eject safely and the plane went into a flat spin and crashed into the ground a minute later with the force of a 250 Ibs bomb. Once the design was fixed and a new prototype finished it was back to testing and it passed all exams. Finally the F/A-20 Stinger was put into full combat ready production lines and the Navy ordered 100 of the new jets, the Marines 75, and the Air Force 120.
:Fun Facts:
1. It is the only U.S. fighter jet in usage right now with 4 crew
2. It has 4 landing gears (2 front 1 in each wing)
3. It can carry bombs if needed
4. The intake system stems from in between the 2 cockpits through the middle of the plane then splits off into each engine
:Reminder: This is a plane that I made up inside my head when I thought of a type of plane that would be weird looking but also useful at the same time and also is the plane that takes over for the F/A-19 Wasp. Enjoy this super fictional warbird I have built!
