Lyra Type 1105
The Lyra Type 1105 was a project for a long-range freight or passenger-carrying flying boat capable of transporting heavy cargo to archipelagoes and island bases without the use of multiple aircraft.
Lore
In late 1950's, the Surasthanian Navy requested for a flying boat that can:
1.) deliver essential payloads to its island bases in the Pacific
2.) can deliver at most 300 to 570 passengers, regardless of paying class
3.) transporting aircraft subassemblies to the vision of Objective 1.
The aircraft was presented in 1957 powered by a Venti 57-003T turboprop engine of ~8,000 horsepower, deriving from the afterburning engine of the Type 818-3/-5. During inspection, the concept seemed practical as an alternative to slow-moving ships, but was shelved due to the concerns of doubts in structural integrity, hangar availability and fuel consumption. Therefore, the aircraft is canceled, and the 57-003T engine was only allowed to be developed further.
