This is milestone 3 of my high speed experimentation. To achieve maximum speed: Set vtol engine nozzles at the slightest downward angle on takeoff; discard gear immediately after leaving ground; ascend at 60 degrees to 85000 feet; level out; discard dorsal droptank; nose down at 45 degrees until fuel runs out. Done right, 1570 - 1600 + is possible.
