North American F-86a Sabre
Jets. Stars. These are things that I like. I also like roundels and props. Nachos and dip. Cheese and beans. Bacon and eggs. Tom and Jerry. Profit and loss. Pølse og lompe.
But I digress.
Yes - I couldn't build the MiG-15 without taking a crack at it's nemesis - the mighty, mighty F-86.
This is an early "a" variant with a narrow wing and leading edge slats - should be prefect for hunting Fagots. No - that wasn't a poor attempt at humor - it was the NATO reporting name for the MiG-15. Don't like it? Call Jens Stoltenberg and complain.
The performance is not even close to being correct - she'll struggle to hit 400mph at sea level.
However, my MiG-15 is also equally crap at low level.
Otherwise, the MiG tends to climb like a crazy person, but the Sabre has a higher top speed. The MiG will out turn the Sabre, but the Sabre has a better gun sight (not intentional, just a lack of building talent on my side). At 30,000 + ft the MiG will eat the Sabre alive in a turn and burn fight, but the Sabre can always zoom away and disengage.
Either way, a fight against the AI with these two is a hoot.
AG1 - landing lights
AG2 - drop stores
AG3 - nav lights
Vtol down for slats and flaps (go easy on these)
Gear for landing gear.
Check out the internal camera.
Have fun!

@GhostHTX absolutely spiffing, old chap. Comments no more than deserved. Be sure to check out my soon to be uploaded Eyetie also-ran. See you sky-side
@Alien, old boy! How the devil are you? Many thanks for the kind comments.
Lovely little flyer! You've surpassed yourself yet again, old Top! As soon as I figure out how to spotlight, I shall indulge in that little pastime for yourself and a few of our esteemed brethren.
Thanks matey! @Tang0five I read a fair bit of MiG-15 v Sabre stuff after I was done building them and a lot of what is widely accepted (MiG climbed faster, had inferior gunsight, heavier armament, more unstable gun platform, slower top speed, could out turn Sabre etc etc etc.) actually proved to be true of my two models. Mainly luck, I guess, and that the shapes are reasonably accurate. The SP physics engine did the rest.
Bloody brilliant wee model! Love the narrative too!
@GhostHTX De nada.
@SledDriver Muchos Gracias compadre
Oh, and FYI I know that the left side horizontal stabiliser is at an angle - it is to counter a bloody irritating auto roll. A small price to pay, I think.
@SSSvaSSa Danke!
@EternalDarkness Merci!
