The F-94 fighter jet was developed by Lockheed Martin in the late 1940s. The prototype made its maiden flight on April 16, 1949 and officially entered service in May 1950. From 1950 to 1953, it served as the only reliable jet all-weather interceptor for the United States Air Force, filling the gap that existed before the new equipment was put into use. It played an irreplaceable role in domestic air defense in the United States, The outbreak of the Korean War made it the first American jet all-weather fighter to participate in actual combat.
