Design Process
No doubt about it, this is an odd looking aircraft. I wanted to create a AD-1 Skyraider competitor that had a Do-335 engine layout, with also having 2 Merlin/Packard engines with contra rotating props, each engine producing 1500 HP (ignore in game, engine is maxed at .5 for fuel).
This is a horrible but cool looking configuration. It's doesn't look quiet like the original, which was built for the same role, but with a cut canopy instead of stock. I've done my best to make this VR compatible, although I cannot personally confirm it. I believe the instrument layout is functional, and the gunsight is (almost) perfectly centered.
Originally, I was torn between ugly duckling and seagull, but seagull won out. This is a fighter for the Marines to strike targets with, so that's why it's an attack.
Design inspiration came from the P-51 (engine and main wings), the AD-1 in terms of general mission, the Helldiver for the internal bomb bay for a torpedo, and the Do-335 for the pusher/puller engine configuration.
Originally, I wanted Tiny Tims on the Bomb bay door. I figured that this would make the plane deadlier, but in truth, it didn't do nothing.
Original drawing, which has some stuff i did not implement, but overall, I like it. I felt like I stayed true to the original idea.
