Panavia Tornado IDS
First of all, thanks to my friend for assisting me in building this airplane.
Special thanks to masailil for tweaking its controls and aerodynamics.
FENGyccccc for the photos and the emblem.
and all the friends who helped me.
Note: I have fictionalized part of the cockpit due to too little information gathered.
Introduction:
The Panavia Tornado is a two-seat, twin-engine supersonic variable swept-wing fighter developed by Panavia Aircraft Corporation.
Development of the Panavia Tornado began in 1970, the structural design was completed in 1972, the first flight took place in August 1974, and the aircraft was named "Tornado" in September 1974, before entering service in 1979.The Panavia Tornado is a two-seat, twin-engine, supersonic, variable-sweep wing fighter developed by Panavia Aircraft Corporation (PAC).

As a fellow Tornado-lover I really appreciate this build. There are so many good things about it, I don’t know where to begin: the overall shape, the thrust reversers, the custom afterburners, the cockpit (!)… the two-tone Marineflieger livery. Awesome!
However, allow me to also suggest some ideas for further improvement:
But again: all of this is just nitpicking because I love this plane so much. 😉
@ollielebanania I'll continue to improve my skills as much as I can in the future!
@ollielebanania Thank you so much for liking this airplane! There are still some problems with this airplane that I really want to fix, but due to my lack of skill, there is no way to fix them, just like my friend who improved its handling. When I first started building this plane, it couldn't even climb. For this aspect of building airplanes, I tried my best to make it possible to keep the airplane in line with reality while keeping the number of parts low, but obviously, the two can't exist at the same time. For funkytree, I actually don't really know what to do, I'm very sorry.
Lovely build !
I just LOVE this airplane, it's really cool to see a good one out here.
I really like it, under 1000 parts but still with great details, the overall shape of the plane is here and the body looks really good, the wings could have had a better airfoil but hey at least it's fuselage wings.
I like the fact that the interiors are simple and without much to do but at least everything works and you did it which is great, I also like the dedication to make the two of them even tho it's a one player game, this kind of motivation is nice to see.
The flight model is way way better than most builds out there, it feels like a real plane, doesn't do to many crazy stuff but still is fun enough.
My only point but I'm being picky is that I'm not sure that the Tornado could super-cruise, maybe I'm wrong tho, same for it pulling 18° of AoA, I don't think it could pull this much.
Overall awesome build.
为什么
@SC2311 i completely understand, otherwise an amazing aircraft, good job!
@Krikkit42 I also appreciate your willingness to give me feedback on questions!
@SC2311 Thanks, I really wasn’t fishing for compliments here, but I appreciate the feedback!
Why i am pinned
@Krikkit42 Maybe you can think of it as a combined version of IDS and GR mk.4?
@Krikkit42 I checked out your IDS profile. Your IDS is much better than mine, especially in terms of body transition, and in many ways.
@Krikkit42 Wow, thanks so much for the find. Yes, at the beginning of the build, I was referencing the shape of the GR4 type. However, since I didn't really know the difference between them, I built the German IDS, but the GR4 type.😭
🥰🥰🥰🥰
@ollielebanania I reckon the Tornado could do 18+ alpha given the conditions. Given its semi FBW i think it would be harder to do though.
A fellow Panavia Tornado enjoyer!
super clean build
@ollielebanania Thank you my dear friend!Merci mon cher ami!
@SC2311 oh bruh that's a shitty situation haha, well don't hesitate to ping me on a post or any forum if you seek some help :)
@ollielebanania OH, **. my original Discord doesn't work because of the region I'm in.😭😭
@ollielebanania I'm certainly very willing! I need to go make sure my discord is still working though, I haven't used it in a long time.
@ollielebanania and,you too. we all needs keep it up !
@SC2311 If you want I can give you my discord so if you need any help I could help you
@ollielebanania haha, my English is just as bad. That's why I've been using translation software to talk to you.
@ollielebanania It's okay, it's good to put in the time on something you love, and you'll get what you deserve in the end!
@SC2311 It's already really good, and it's visible from far away tht you're really trying to improve your skills and make interesting builds. SimplePlanes has a weird progression curve, so it's okey to have less skills in like making a flight model than making a fuselage.
For the part count, the look of it is already very good, could be improved of course but it's really good, and funkytrees also something else, I'm a total noob at it, but you can seek help everywhere, all the codes I use are maybe by people that's I reached for some help :)
Anyway, keep it up !
(Sorry for my crappy english)
@SC2311 Thanks ! It's not perfect at all but it was the max I could achieve with my skills, still pretty happy with it even tho I'm remember the last two ~ three months weren't fun at all anymore, just focusing over doing ad detail then another then another
