Whizzing Arrow IV Concept (WIP)

26.3k BRuthless  8.9 years ago

This is my own concept of a successor to the Whizzing Arrow III. It's more stable and a bit easier to land (atleast it's possible now, but the crashlandings also look great). Speed and agility are medium, rolling is quite fast.

Use Act 1 to activate additional brake thrusters (activated when braking), Act 2 and VTOL slider to create downwards/upwards thrust in the back for stabilizing in low-speed flight.

There are still some things that need to be worked on:
1. The handlingbar in the cockpit doesn't want to move anymore
2. Landing should be easier
3. Needs more sensitivity for the Pitch to reach better maneuverability
4. Design should work without wings, though I don't think it will work without them in SP

If you have any thoughts/suggestions or want me to share the working handlingbar for download, just post it in the comments section.

Have fun! :)

@FullFruntall I just uploaded my two fastest new planes. Feel free to use the launchpad for your own creations. They only need to carry their own fuel and have VTOL-nozzles. No landing gear or engines needed. :) The planes also have a small wing gun near the cockpit for better aiming at the rings with the reticle.

yeh, ive been looking into making a compartment part that you can put stuff in and then press an activatr and it slides open and comes out. @BRuthless

@FullFruntall I could make it with rotators, but there's not enough space for them in the reactor bays. Also this design is doomed to perform badly in SimplePlanes. :D

this design is something ive been wanting to build but there are not enough parts. I want to add te hidden boosters that come out for extra speed :)

@slavebreaker I've worked several hours on modifications and fixes, but the design just doesn't want to work out as I want it to. I need some fresh ideas before I get my hands on it again.

@slavebreaker Purely SP and a little bit of XML-editing with Notepad++. You could use any texteditor, but Notepad++ is the most convenient one for coding. :D Still working on the VTOL capabilities, pitch rate and the not working handbars. I guess I have to give the engines a deactivation button. I'm also going to increase engine power in the XML to make it reach atleast 900 MPH and to give it more upwards thrust without adding more thrusters, as it has a lot of weight to push and it would just fall down trying to hover in this state.
I have repositioned the front landing gear, now it's very easy landing it. Won't flip over the front, but don't make the landing too hard, as it would break the landing gear and make the "reactors" explode. :D Will be inculded in Version 0.2.

i do love the stabilityof it. its a whooole lot more managable. you can really throw it around as much as the last model but the stability really made up for it. also green was agreat choice of color! i think it still needs more power but hey its just a concept! GREAT JOB OVERALL! :D
