Not seen this before so sorry if someone else has already done it. I noticed a lot of people using rounded blocks in the same colour as the cockpit to make the cockpit look longer. In the example you can see I've produced the same result but only with cockpit parts. The advantage is the framework is throughout the whole cockpit. The disadvantage is addition weight on your aircraft. To create this start with 4 cockpits rotated as seen in the example on the left, then spin them until it looks like the example on the right.
