V AIR is a defunct low-cost airline in Taiwan. It was originally a wholly-owned subsidiary of TransAsia Airways, with its hub located at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport before it closed down. In August 2016, TransAsia Airways decided at the V Air board meeting to terminate all V Air operations and merge into TransAsia Airways from October 1, 2016, as it had lost more than NT$900 million from December 2014 to the eve of the announcement of the suspension of flights. Although V Air's civil aviation transport license was extended by the Civil Aeronautics Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, it still officially expired on September 30, 2017.
