Venture Aeronautics Project C600 "Knife Edge"

27.8k TheFlightGuySP  2.2 years ago

Overview: the C600 "Knife Edge" is an experimental rocket powered, high altitude, delta wing aircraft designed to test a rocket propulsion concept. Instead of multiple smaller rocket tubes, the aircraft uses a single rocket engine, which can propel the aircraft to speeds greater than Mach 1.

FLIGHT CHARACTERISTICS

Maximum Airspeed (TAS): 1100mph, 1770mph, ~956knots.
Maximum Altitude: 60,000ft, 18,288m.
Takeoff Airspeed (IAS): ~110mph, ~177kph, ~96knots.
Landing Airspeed (IAS): ~80mph, ~129kph, ~70knots.
Controls:

  • Trim: Trim.
  • Activate1: Rocket Engine Ignition.

    NOTES

  • After a certain speed is reached, a control limiter will automatically activate to prevent the aircraft from performing excessive maneuvers.

  • The rocket engine will burn for 300 seconds (5 minutes).
  • I recommend climbing to at least 50,000ft (15,240m) for supersonic flight.

    @GabrielSatori Much appreciated!
    It's really just an XML modified Cleaver missile with several magnets holding it in place.
    A tip: set the missile's maximum speed to a very high value, and then mess with the missile's thrust force until you find a suitable amount. Otherwise, your aircraft may accelerate too fast and then stop gaining speed after the missile's maximum speed is achieved (which, of course, isn't very realistic, and is a bit annoying).

    I heard about literal rocket engine in Simpleplanes, however I can’t replicate that, the normal rocket didn’t accelerate the plane and then blew up after a short while, I thought that maybe it’s because I didn’t know any rocket’s xml or maybe it just doesn’t work. But then I stumbled upon this. I was really surprised that it actually worked and it fly really good as well, a very nice aircraft.
