The Advanced Infantry Fighting Vehicle is a Paternian upgrade designed by Bandit for venerable M125A1 armored personnel carrier, to make it more suitable for modern conflicts.
Upgrades include applique armor packs comprising of a polyurethane foam-steel laminate that improves the flotation of the machine as well as providing additional protection, a standard 4-unit Medium Weapons Mount in place of the commander's position, and improvements to suspension and propulsion units.
The AIFV was entered in the Paternian Army Light Tracked vehicle competition to replace the M7 Dragon IFV, which included entries from KRIEG and Dragon Defense. This particular vehicle is an AIF-30R fitted with a 30mm KRIEG Recoilless Automatic Cannon in an unmanned turret with 3-unit Turret Conversion.
Variants include the following:
AIFV-30: Infantry fighting vehicle. Armed with 30mm M15 cannon in manned, 4-unit turret.
AIFV-30R: Infantry fighting vehicle. Armed with 30mm RAC-30 cannon in unmanned, 3-unit turret.
AIFV-APC: Armored personnel carrier. Armed with 12.7mm HMG in M141 Remote Weapons Station and cupola.
AIFV-ARV: Armored recovery vehicle.
AIFV-TOW: Tank destroyer armed with TOW missiles.
AIFV-MC: Mortar carrier akin to M125 mortar carriers.
AIFV-ECV: Engineer combat vehicle.
AIFV-AD: Air Defense. Armed with Sentinel ADS 4-unit turret.
