SKY FURY Mk II - Light Fighter-Bomber

An advanced two seat fighter/bomber designed for both missile and bomb attacks as well as more conventional dogfights.

The SKY FURY air superiority fighter is an original design, made to fit-in with its stablemates, the WYVERN and the DRAGON. Of course, all the modifications are the products of you wonderful folk here on SimplePlanes--I have neither the capacity nor the knowledge to do those myself. I would specifically like to thank Seme4ka for the wonderful micro-missiles that are the basis of my Fang and Talon missiles batteries, dfsjoe for the weightless mega-fuel tank that I have reinterpreted as the Umbra Reactor, FGW2014 for the Hail Storm shard laser that became the Meteor Storm ground attack system--and now the Meteor Swarm anti-aircraft laser system, and Spefyjerbf for the many amazing weapons systems.

Background Story:
At the beginning of the third cycle of the XIX Dynasty, the High Command commissioned the Archon Chancellery to design and build a more advanced version of the already successful WYVERN strike fighter. Initially designated the DRAKE, this plane was to be a larger two-person fighter designed with the air-to-air combat role in mind. The Chancellery responded to this specification by offering a modified flying wing concept, incorporating the WYVERN's unique SERAPHIM multi-wing architecture together with an upgraded delta wing design. The Chancellery also included the now standard CONSTELLATION integrated engine system, powered by the UMBRA dark energy reactor giving the new plane virtually unlimited range together with VTOL and high mach dash capabilities. The resulting aircraft was fast, maneuverable, and quite heavily armed. The aircraft featured several advanced weapons systems, including: twelve FANG air-to-air missiles and three TALON air-to-ground missiles; a pair each of the STAR BURST, and STAR FIRE laser weapons systems, the PULSAR advanced heavy dual-beam laser cannon mounted on a moveable barbette; a six shot variant of the NOVA high-explosive bomb-rifle, and a modification of the Meteor Storm shard laser system, now termed the METEOR SWARM, re-tuned to provide short-range area defense.

By the end of the third cycle of the XIX Dynasty it was decided to retune the aircraft for the fight/bomber role, as newer, faster fighters were now available and the ground attack capabilities of this design lent itself well to the light bomber role. To this end the aircraft was renamed the SKY FURY and the missile load was changed to a more balanced nine FANG air-to-air and six TALON air-to-ground missiles.

Activation Groups:
1 - Engages the CONSTELLATION integrated engine system, which includes an enhanced gyro-stabilization unit (on whenever AG-1 is active), the QUANTUM DRIVE indirect thrust/boost engine (VTOL bar up), and the anti-gravity GRAVITON VTOL motor (VTOL bar down).
2 - Activates the PULSAR advanced heavy dual-beam weapon system, located in the forward chin barbette.
3 - Allows the barbette cannon to be moved through a 60 degree arc (VTOL control bar). Deactivating this action group locks the gun in its current position. Camera 1 is located under the nose to facilitate aiming for ground attacks.
4 - Activates the FANG advanced AA missile system (Interceptor based).
5 - Activates the TALON advanced AG missile system (Cleaver based).
6 - Activates the STAR BURST stern-chaser pulse cannons.
7 - Activates the METEOR SWARM area air defense shard laser system.
8 - disconnects the main UMBRA reactor, deactivating all active sensors (shown by extinguishing the various engine and running lights) and disarms the plane's main binary STAR FIRE pulse-beam cannons.
