It can go to places which no other vehicle can reach. (You can try this at Pharaoh’s Garden.)
Switch to cockpit view and press 1 to get help with the controls.
BTW: If you do crazy things high up in the air like switching to “ground mode” or simply stopping the thrusters, some interesting messages may appear.
