    @carter2 in the old days there were 20 shillings in a pound each shilling was devided into 12 pennies the penny was devided into two half pennies or four farthings (1/4 penny) 2- farthings= 1 half penny 2- half pennies = one penny (1d) 3- pence = 1 thruppence or a threpeny bit (3d) 6- pence = 1 sixpence or a "tanner" (6d) 12- pence = 1 shilling or a "Bob" (1s) 2- shilling = 1 Florin or a "two Bob bit" (2s) 2- shilling & 6- pence = a half crown (2s 6d) 5- shilling = 1 crown (5s) 20-shilling = 1 sovereign (a pound) The was a paper pound commonly called a "quid" 21- shillings = 1 guinnia
