On July 21, 1946, American bombers destroyed the Arado factories producing the Arado 234 bombers. Due to the lack of resources, the restoration of the factories was impossible, so RLM announced a competition for the development of a new bomber of a similar class. Development tasks were received by Focke-Wulf and Heinkel. The winner of the competition was the prototype. According to the results of the tests, the aircraft was put into service on 10/12/1946. Thus, only a few months were spent on development. This became possible due to the fact that Heinkel already had a similar project, developed on its own initiative. Wood was widely used in the design of the bomber, it became possible to truly mass produce these aircraft, and within six months more than 1,000 bombers were produced. On the other hand,it carries only 1000 kg of bombs, was very heavy and only accelerated to 790 km / h. Nevertheless, this aircraft allowed the Reich to resist until 1950 and avoid unconditional surrender.
