Saunders-Roe SR.53
Description
The Saunders-Roe SR.53 was a British prototype interceptor aircraft of mixed jet and rocket propulsion developed for the Royal Air Force (RAF) by Saunders-Roe in the early 1950s.[2] As envisaged, the SR.53 would have been used as an interceptor aircraft, using its rocket propulsion to rapidly climb and approach incoming hostile bombers at high speeds; following its attack run, the aircraft would be able to return to its base by making use of the secondary jet propulsion instead.
Fair Warning, it has quite a bit of auto roll. I’m not sure why, but I have a feeling it has something to do with the xml scaled wings. It also has a tendency to pitch down a lot and doesn’t take off too well....this isn’t my best plane and I’m a little disappointed on its performance.
Controls
Act.1+Throttle: Rocket
Act. 2+Throttle: Jet
VTOL: flaps
Note
I really like this design and I might make a more realistic version with armament and better performance, but I couldn’t fit it in without increasing the part count or the amount of time spent on it.

@asteroidbook345 I hope you do!
@asteroidbook345 I’m a sucker for anything from SR so I still love it. Maybe try making it again but not for any challenge, just a really detailed one
Oh my goodness I remember seeing this a while back (I was on an SP break so I wasn’t liking or commenting hahaha). I didn’t realise you were the one who made it. It’s one of my all time favourite aircraft
Very good replica. Great job.
