De Havilland Mosquito MK XVIII
The last in the trio of mosquitos I planned to build, the De Havilland Mosquito MK XVIII was an upgraded MK VI mosquito, with the main change being a 57mm anti-tank cannon being built into the nose. The MK XVIII was introduced as a U-boat killer, but alao saw great effectivity while hunting pt boats. This plane was a shipping killer - in one instance, 5 MK XVIII Mosquitos attacked 5 German ships, with all 5 German ships being set on fire and sunk. A minesweeper went down with all 200 crew being killed, with the end result being at least 900 Germans dead. Not a single Mosquito was shot down. On another instance, 3 U-boats were spotted in formation heading to Norway. All were sunk. Finally, in one more example, 1 U-boat, 4 destroyers and 10 JU88 aircraft were engaged by multiple MX XVIIIs and 4 MKVIs. The U boat was badly damaged, while 3 JU88s were shot down - one of which was shot down with a 57mm shell, resulting in the engine falling off of the aircraft. INSTRUCTIONS: None. Fly the plane, its not hard. Press fire to fire. Nothing special this time. Have Fun!
Oh and P.S. HAPPY BATTLE OF BRITAIN DAY!
