Convair XF-92
50.4k Stingray
9.4 years ago
This airplane was the first jet aircraft to fly using the radical delta-wing configuration. Designed & developed as a supersonic intercepter the XF-92 was delivered to the USAF in 1949. Only one flying aircraft was built & tested at high subsonic speeds. A supersonic engine was not available, yet, and this prototype was replaced by the F-102A Delta Dagger. The XF-92A prototype is on display at the National Museum of the USAF.
