B.E.2 Triplane - Sky Bandits (Gunbus)

1,326 123Acepilot  4.0 years ago

Here's yet another plane, that appears in the 1986 Sci-fi film "Sky Bandits", the B.E.2 Triplane. Built by the talented captured German mechanic with amnesia, named Fritz, for a British squadron among other, much more bizarre flying machines. This craft appears during the scene where the film's main protagonists, Luke and Barney, use it to fly to another allied squadron to "borrow" two Salmson 2A2s. When they land at the aerodrome, the plane's wings collapse in on themselves. The heroes then fly away in their Salmsons and leave the B.E.2 behind.

After filming wrapped, the fuselage of the Triplane was stored at Coventry airport among with the rest of the film's replicas, where it remained until 1992, when it was taken to Cheshire by the Macclesfield Historical Aviation group to be restored along with another replica (the Vickers Gunbus).

NOTE: After several reuploads (due to tailskid, scale and speed errors), this is the final build of this aircraft.

@MIAW26PERSIAN Now I also love building impractical, downright bizarre WW1 aircraft after seeing Sky Bandits.

@MIAW26PERSIAN I kept encountering flaws, but now they're all corrected.
Too bad that this site doesn't have a feature yet that would allow you to update your build directly instead of continuosly deleating and reuploading it.
