The Nurtanio Tipe 100 Attack Aircraft (NATO Reporting Name: Flare) is a contra-propped, light attack aircraft designed by Perusahaan Manufaktur Pesawat Terbang Nurtanio for TNI AU. The aircraft, entering service in 1976, would be used by Indonesian youths for attack, close air support and counter insurgency operations.

Development
In 1972, the Indonesian youths required a new, close air support aircraft. Perusahaan Manufaktur Pesawat Terbang Nurtanio designed a light ground attack aircraft for TNI AU. The project, was sent to the Indonesian youths in Surabaya, and the design was accepted.

Construction of the first prototype began in 1973 as new, contra-propeller engines were installed on the front. After the completion, the first prototype rolled out with the first flight occurred in 1974.

After the test flights, the contra-propeller attack aircraft saw success for Indonesia. After a success for testings, the aircraft officially entered service with TNI AU in 1976.

The aircraft has 8 hardpoints on each wing - each both for Tipe 25 bombs, both for Tipe 20 Rocket Pods, and four for missiles - one of them can be equipped with air-to-surface missiles such as the Russian Kh-29 (NATO reporting name: AS-14 'Kedge'), American AGM-114 Hellfire or an Indonesian license-built version, the RUD/P-114. The aircraft has one UC/R-16 communications and radar systems equipped on the aircraft.

All 50 aircrafts are in service with Indonesian Air Force today.
