Lore:
During the 2040s, the UACN led an effort to engineer a new type of aircraft, the aerial warships. At first the UACN built a force of aerial frigates, but after they were proven very effective, the air force began building cruisers, battleships and airborne carriers.

To counter this, the UEA also started building aerial warships. The project had a slow start, leading to the UEA never finishing the construction of battleship-class designs. By the start of the Asian-American war, the UEA only had a force containing only aerial destroyers, dreadnoughts and two aerial battlecruisers.

The two battlecruisers were the CHANGBAI and her sister ship, the FUJI.
The battlecruisers were named after mountains of countries in the United East Asian alliance. The CHANGBAI was built in a base located in China while FUJI was built in Japan.

At the start of the Asian-American war, the UACN had chosen a strategic time to conduct the initial invasion against the UEA, the two UEA aerial battlecruisers were undergoing intense refitting and their airborne carriers were still under construction.

The UEA knew that even though their military were capable, they did not have a chance against the UACN without the battlecruisers and carriers. So after the UACN forces invaded Manchuria, the UEA would only put up resistance to slow down the enemy enough to concentrate forces for a counterattack at southern China.

Mere weeks after the initial invasion, the UACN forces had already moved past Shanghai. The UACN fighter jets and aerial cruisers led the charge, but the powerful aerial battleships lagged behind, as their systems overheated due to nonstop travel. The UACN, after seeing the weak defenses put up by the UEA. realized that battleships would not be needed for this war, so the fighter jets pressed on.

As the UACN forces obtained victory after victory, the main forces of the UEA was quietly gathering at the city of Fujian, Preparing to bleed out the UACN forces during the siege of the city. Hours after the UACN reached Fujian, the two aerial battlecruisers, CHANGBAI and FUJI finished refitting, and they made a dash towards the city besieged.

CHANGBAI reached Fujian first, as it launched from Chongqing, which was closer compared to FUJI which finished refitting at a base in southern Japan. Together they wiped the floor with the UACN forces, but they knew this victory would be short lived as the UACN aerial battleships were surely on their way here.

Hastily both battlecruiser took some time to breathe as they landed at a base in Fujian for repairs and upgrades.

The reason Fujian was such a critical location to defend was that many new technologies were under development in bases in the city. The aerial battlecruisers each picked up a brand new propulsion drive, which enabled them to accelerate to hypersonic speeds.

With these new upgrades, the airborne warships together with the fighter aircraft defended the city from another wave of UACN attacks, this time, fighting face to face with the UACN airborne battleships.

The UEA, with the help of an extremely skilled ace pilot, turned the tables and pushed the UACN forces away from the city of Fujian. This marked the start of the counteroffensive to take back East Asia.
