Airbus A321-211 Kish Air (Aeroflot livery)
After the success of Airbus' wide-body designs, this European company sought to enter the single-aisle aircraft market. Airbus's first attempt in this field was called A320, which, in addition to its excellent features, is the producer of three other successful Airbus models, namely A318, A319, and A321.
The Airbus A321 is very similar to the Airbus A320, but has a more elongated body and the ability to accommodate more passengers. The construction of Airbus A321 began in 1989 and first flew on March 11, 1993 [equivalent to March 20, 1373].

There are only six Airbus 321s in Iran, one belonging to Iran Air, two belonging to Kish Air, two belonging to Zagros and the other belonging to the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the reform government and during Seyyed Mohammad Khatami's trip to France in 1378, a contract to purchase ten Airbus 321s along with four Airbus 330s was signed between IranAir and Airbus, and 41 million dollars was paid to Airbus as an advance payment, but the pressures America to France and the concern of Paris about the application of American sanctions caused this contract to not be completed and Airbus returned the advance payment of 41 million dollars along with its interest.
For the first time in Iran, Mahan Airlines leased an Airbus 321 from a German company in 2013 and entered it into its fleet in a short time. Qeshm Air also leased two Airbus 321 from Turkey in 2005. This content is copied from Tayareh's blog.
Iran's first civilian Airbus 321 arrived in the country on December 2, 2014. This plane was configured as a VIP by the Khatami government and for the use of the country's officials. But its entry into the country was accompanied by many ups and downs, and finally it entered Iran at the beginning of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's government, and it is still serving the ceremonial fleet of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the EP-IGD register.
On May 18, 2014, Mahan Airlines imported an Airbus 321 aircraft through an Iraqi company, but due to its age and other problems, this aircraft was not operational and was scrapped.
In 2015, Kish Air Company purchased two second-hand Airbus 321 planes from Russia, which arrived in the country on 22 Mehr and 20 Aban 2015, respectively. Iran's only new Airbus 321 arrived at Mehrabad Airport on January 23, 2015 with EP-IFA registration. This Airbus was the first plane that Iran Air had purchased in a new form after years of embargo, based on the JCPOA agreement. Zagros company also imported two of these planes in March 2015.
