The AAD Sauronel was one of many variants from the original Sauronel program kicked off by AAX in the 30s. This program's intent was to create high performance aircraft using novel (at the time) airfoil setups and wing plan arrangements.

What is shown here is one of the earliest Sauronel craft in service. This one in particular was a defense variant used to engage forces encroaching on Arcanix held territory. To fit this mission, the plane is set up for a long loiter with the ability to attack both land and air targets due to its varied armament.

The main weaponry consists of a nose mounted 40 mm cannon and 4 50 caliber machine guns in the aft wings. This plane is capable of carrying a wide array of other armaments including rockets, dumb bombs, and some of the earlier glider bombs. The 40 mm cannon was known to cause wear on the crafts airframe.

The original intention for this plane was to serve as a high-altitude interceptor in a novel way. The 010B was supposed to be able to reach heights much above incoming bomber formations and then dive-strafe them. The unique wing set up was created specifically to cater to this methodology. Unfortunately, the heavy armor and lift center arrangement made this tactic mostly impossible, though with enough time pilots could still see themselves performing this maneuver. Leftovers from the initial goal add to this aircrafts capability in other areas of combat. The fully moving ailerons at full port and starboard of each respective wind were meant to combat compressibility in very high speed dives. When active, they give this Sauronel an impressive roll rate.

Other unique features include the over-all compact design, low weight for high armor, exhaust exits built into the tail wing, mid engine layout, heavy compressor to blow canard surfaces, and striking silhouette.
