79.9k Temperance  1.1 years ago

The Harrier GR Mk.3 is a British V/STOL (Vertical/Short Takeoff and Landing) ground-attack aircraft, developed by Hawker Siddeley (later British Aerospace). It is an advanced version of the earlier Harrier models, featuring improvements such as a more powerful Rolls-Royce Pegasus engine, enhanced avionics, and the distinctive nose-mounted laser rangefinder and marked-target seeker. The GR Mk.3 was primarily used by the Royal Air Force and saw extensive service during the Falklands War in 1982, where its versatility in operating from makeshift airstrips and aircraft carriers proved invaluable.
