In 1945, after the introduction of the Me 262, issues with production caused Willy Messerschmitt to design a more easily produced jet interceptor. Unfortunately, the design of the Bf 293 Wanderfalke was never put into production, as prototyping lasted into 1947. The Wanderfalke showed extremely advanced design characteristics, resembling the later developed MiG-15 and F-86 Saber jet fighters.
