Convair-Pratt&Whitney SSHAB (Pluto Project)

This is the (fictional) joint project from Convair and Pratt&Whitney for the Pluto Project. The Pluto Project was a (fictional) USAF request for high-altitude bombers capable of super-sonic speeds and a nuclear bombload capability. This submission is armed with two 250 lbs. bombs, four .50 calibre machine guns, and two 1 Megaton Nuclear bombs. Top speed is over 600 miles per hour, not quite reaching the speed requirement. However, it exceeds the altitude requirement, beating out the Ling-Temco-Vought submission in said category. Very easy to fly, takeoff at around 240 miles per hour. Enjoy!

Extra History:

This aircraft was designed to specifically compete against Alpha One Industres. This bomber prototype was put up against a classified AOI bomber to see which one the USAF would choose (this also determined if any other air forces would use the aircraft). The competition ended with a tie and a completely different company's aircraft being chosen (this aircraft never made it past prototype phase).
