AviationDynamics 'White-Knight' Light Fighter (1914)
About the aircraft:
Designed by AviationDynamics during the brief 'Preparation' period a few months before the breakout of war, the White-Knight introduces a polite balance between weaponry firing arc, speed, agility and pilot comfort mixed into one cheap and easy to manufacture aircraft.
Armament:
Equip with two 7.62mm machine guns forward of the pilot canopy guard, offering an ease of fire for the pilot, with an additional peg for the fitting of another 7.62mm or twin 5.56mm guns at the rear, just behind the copilot/navigator. As an addition for the weaponry, the White-Knight can be equip with a single 60kg bomb slung under the fuselage between the gear pilons, however, the 60kg bomb can be replaced by a heavier 72kg incendiary bomb for close air support.
Aircraft History:
Whilst designed and used predominantly in the pre-war period, the White-Knight promised to offer so much for the air force to utilize, air crews used the aircraft right the way through until the start of the war.
Though popular and loved dearly amongst pilots and crew. the 'reign' of the White-Knight was short lived as major propulsion issues with the airframe meant the promised speed of 186mph was unachievable unless in a bombing dive. This violation of parameters led the service of the aircraft temporarily revoked whilst the replacement aircraft took its place until the engine issues could be fixed. However major budget re-direction from the air force caused massive delays to the airframe and unfortunately the White-Knight was retired from service to make way for better aircraft.
