DHL[5] is a logistics company[6] providing courier, package delivery and express mail service, delivering over 1.7 billion parcels per year.[7] A subsidiary of the German logistics firm DHL Group, its express mail service DHL Express is one of the market leaders for parcel services in Europe. DHL Express is Germany's main international courier and parcel service.[8] DHL also operates a separate parcel service targeting the German consumer market in conjunction with Deutsche Post. This service is linked to DHL Express with some shared infrastructure but they operate as different entities within DHL Group and have separate vehicles and couriers for last mile delivery.
The Douglas DC-8 (sometimes McDonnell Douglas DC-8) is an early long-range narrow-body jetliner designed and produced by the American Douglas Aircraft Company. Work began in 1952 towards the United States Air Force's (USAF) requirement for a jet-powered aerial refueling tanker. After losing the USAF's tanker competition to the rival Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker in May 1954, Douglas announced in June 1955 its derived jetliner project marketed to civil operators.
