Double Wasp Torpedo Bomber Gunship

109k WalrusAircraft  8.8 years ago

I got sick today and decided to make an airplane to ease my misery. I'm using my rotary engines in this bird, but as a double wasp configuration. Instructions: Power up and pull back. Use 2 for cannon up and down VTOL, and 3 and 4 to drop torpedoes. This is not a real airplane; I just wanted to create something different. If you are on PC, I usually launch the torpedos (they have bombs embedded in them) and turn on the AI for the airplane so I can follow the torpedoes. Thanks to @thealban for the wonderful US Air Force lettering and roundel. Have fun!

@WalrusAircraft, really cool "paint job" on this one...is the shiny aluminum stock?

Suggestion: flip the "U.S. AIR FORCE" and roundel markings so the bottom of the markings face the trailing edges of the wings, as they are on AF aircraft. Really do prefer the fictional aircraft category, so thanks for this one!

So I loved your idea of a torpedo bomber and took my Type 23 and my Type 4A torpedo and fused them. Does it get your approval? And yes I'm aware it turns like a brick would propel itself into out space. It doesn't. @WalrusAircraft

I made the engines for another aircraft. They took some time to make by editing the XML. @Theflyingauzzie

Thanks for that, and here is how you can get started with XML editing / modding. https://www.reddit.com/r/SimplePlanes/comments/3acdsn/modding_notes/? @dilisvarskvlavi

@WalrusAircraft I had been working on a torpedo design too but it was much bulkier, thus heavier and accuracy was JUST horrible for mine! This appearance was a sheer stroke of good luck on my part and brilliance in design on your's. Now watch, next update, they'll add torpedoes. XD PS - I am XML illiterate though I have seen your' older uprated designs and snagged them for my subassemblies. (I fitted a pair of the x10 jets to the starter swing wing bird with a little fiddling and got her up to 2.6k mph! What a rush!) Anyway, get better soon and I'll keep an eye out for your' future designs!

@AeroEngineering I'll take a look at those RATO's for a later project, as I just arranged a centerline mounting for it. Worked great! ^_^

@dilisvarskvlavi try putting one of my RATO's on it to add more thrust for takeoff
