Newland Governor

975 FlyHigh  6.8 years ago

This medium-range propeller aircraft was designed to be cheap, durable and reliable. You could find the plane around the world: from Europe to Africa and South America. However, the glory of the Governor came to an end just five years after the first model was produced. On the 19 of August 1954, a major design flaw caused an absurd incident in which the toilet broke from the rest of the plane. Fortunately, no-one was hurt, although some passengers had to buy new underwear when the plane landed three hours later. Just one month later another accident happened: the onboard comm system started to play Hungarian polka music, which was troublesome since the problem was not found until the end of the flight 5 hours later. However, the career of the Governor came to an absolute end when the onboard lighting system went into disco mode on a flight full of people that suffered from epilleptic attacks. This rather unusual series of events started an official investigation. The problem? One of the cheap building materials seemed to reject the glue that kept the whole plane together. All Governors were withdrawn, but fortunately the bizarre problems teached plane engineers one thing: never make a plane from plastic and glue, unless its a model plane.
