The Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-17 "Fresco" was designed in 1950, as a result of several changes to the venerable MiG-15. These changes include a larger vertical stabilizer, an additional wing fence, a thinner, more swept wing, and a stretched fuselage. The armament consists of two 23mm NR-23, and one 37mm N-37D cannons. The MiG-17 is best known for it's service in Vietnam, flying for the North Vietnamese air force, and for its widespread use in the middle east among many countries including Egypt and Syria.
