Shortly after the KM-98, Samuel J. Harrison went off on his own idea of a rifle. He disasembled and remade the bolt, barrel, and chamber for a semi-auto standard issue rifle. The rifle soon was a huge success. For while the rifles were amazing, they were used in smaller numbers than their bolt-action variation. The only problem the KMba-98 had was mud, but, Walterson Arms loved it and started manufacturing it
