Heinkel He-111 Z ("Zwilling")
The Heinkel He 111 Z or "Zwilling" (Twin) is two strapped together He 111 with an fifth extra prop engine at the linking point between the two planes. The Z-Model saw use in the German Luftwaffe from 1942 as a tugging aircraft for the heavy glider Me 321 or for three smaller gliders from the type Go 242! It had a dead weight of about 21,400kg (ca. 47,200lbs) and a max. loaded weight of about 28,400kg (ca.62,600lbs). Its max. speed is about 435kmh (270mph) in heights of about 6000m (19,700ft) while carrying nothing. When a heavy glider from the type Me 321 is being tugged it accelerates to a max. velocity of about 219kmh (136mph). With two Go 242 it's max. velocity lies around 248kmh (154mph).In 1942 this production line was very limited due to costs and priorities of the Luftwaffe and it wasn't equipped with bombs (not like this model - bombs just for fun) but it had quit similar defensive armament like MG15's and others even MG17's.
