Auto Credit Based on MAHADI's WWII Jets Challenge! (CLOSED)
Developed in 1943 by Lockheed Corporation, the F-80 was the first effective jet fighter the US adopted, capable of a top speed of roughly 800mph in general conditions and armed with six M2 Browning 50. Cal machine guns, with additional secondary weaponry including 2000lbs worth of bombs and 8 HVAR's, it was cutting edge for the mid 40's, often superior in multiple aspects to contemporary aircraft of the time like the Gloster Meteor, Yak-15, Mig-9, or Me-262 in performance, with its only downside being its somewhat weaker armament of 50. Cals compared to every other jet of the time being fitted with 20mm auto-cannons or even 30mm in the case of the Me-262.
