HY-2A (Silkworm) Cruise Missile
The Silkworm anti-ship missile is a family of intermediate-range cruise missiles and a primitive type of Chinese anti-ship missile used in several naval conflicts. During the Iran-Iraq War, both Iran and Iraq used the missile. The name Silkworm is intended for two models, the Echo-1 and the Echo-2. The Silkworm is based on the Russian anti-ship missile Sassan-2 (Styx) or T-15 permit. The missile is capable of firing from land, air and sea.The first rocket of this family was the Echo-1. The C201 was a newer model with a longer body to carry more fuel and therefore higher range. A triangular wing and three rudders and a shaped tail both introduced these missiles. The C-201 was built in several models, with the aswai-1A designed to be fired from the ship and the echoai-2 designed to be fired from the ground. The missile moved at low altitude and had an anti-parasitic system built in to prevent the enemy from electronically disrupting it. Its large warhead gave it the power to sink or severely damage a 3,000-ton ship. The last Echo-2 tests were conducted in 1970. The Echo-2 model weighs 2,988 kilos, measures 7.36 meters long, measures 76 centimeters in diameter. Its warhead contains 513 kilos of anti-shock explosives and uses a liquid fuel rocket engine alongside a solid fuel reinforcement rocket engine. Its speed has reached Mach 0.8 and its maximum useful range is up to 100 kilometersEgypt and Syria used a Russian model of the missile against Israeli targets. The first successful missile clash occurred in 1967 when four stakes were fired at the Israeli ship "Eilat", which sank in the attack. Russian Styx proved that a modern ship could be sunk by firing sea-launched missiles.Silkworm developed under the supervision of a Chinese scientist named "SIM Hsu-Shen" in the first Gulf War Iraq used the missile as a surface-to-surface missile in Kuwait. On February 25, 1995, an Iraqi ground site fired two Silkworm missiles at the USS Missouri, one of which was destroyed by a Se
