The Racedragon is a racing variant of the Snapdragon. The modifications include CoL adjustment for slower speeds, detuned engine, larger elevon deflection angles, and a new livery.
The bleeding of energy while maneuvering is the defining quality of Racedragon. For heavy-handed or overcontrolling pilots it is a stall waiting to happen. The Snapdragon has enough engine power to keep flying regardless of maneuvers but excessive maneuvering can and will stall the Racedragon.
This is also its biggest advantage. It has enough thrust to power its way to Lunar Arc Expert. It has enough speed to gain the Expert in high-speed races like Oceanview Speedway, Loopty Loop O, and the Dragon. Maneuvering slows it down enough to bag Experts in slow and maneuver heavy races like Shark Tooth and Trench Run.
Warnings:
-don't pitch up when on the ground. The elevons will hit the ground and flip the plane. Use full power and max Trim down for flaps. Whey the plane gets airborne, reset Trim and retract gear.
-Don't use air brakes when touching down. The tips of air-braking wings will hit the ground and be damaged. Using air brakes at altitude or on the ground is ok.
-In the race Sandsift Drift, the Racedragon is too large to fly through the opening. Fly just above the rooftop and you'll get the rings without problems.
To recap: With this plane, I got a time good enough for Expert achievement in all races that are not
- glider only
- prop only
- Indy Air Race - can't fly slow enough
- Daredevil - I blame my slow reflexes, not the plane.
Controls:
-the usual controls
-Trim for pitch trim and flaps (the plane has the tendency to slowly pitch down, easily corrected with pitch trim.)
