Vasa Sverdlov Class is a group of 4 Protected Cruisers built by the Shaterlot Navy in 1821. They were built with new drawings under the request of the government for much more powerful but armoured ships for it's Navy. The further knowledge and the capabilities of the Shaterlot Navy in steel building industries led to the possibility of the Class. The Class was named in honor of Marshall Vasa Sverdlov, a Shaterlotian Marshall and a national hero of the 1st Shaterlot Republic.

History

The Shaterlot government requested for newer and larger warships that can serve as the main Flagship of the Shaterlot Navy for the next 20 years. The overall new changes of the Great Country Naval doctrine led to this immediate greater drawings of new Naval Vessels. 3 designs were submitted to the Naval Intelligence, The first design known as the "A-1", a proposed further development of the Tsavoksky Class Cruisers, armed with bigger guns and larger width of the ship. The second design, the B-1, is a new drawn design composed of 7 turrets, much more protected spaces and improved machinery. And the "B-1a" design which is the further drawn B-1 design, fitted with submerged Torpedo Launchers. Further more, the government approved of the B-1 design. Although the B-1 design won, the government kept the B-1a design for further evaluation which ultimately led to the Svoboda Class built 8 years later.

Service History

The Ships served for the Main Battle Fleet for 19 years. They mostly screen Sea Going Ironclads against enemy Torpedo Boats and Destroyers which attempts to destroy them. They saw extensive service during the 2nd War of Coalitions and throughout their service, only the ship SNS Borodino was sunk during the Battle of North Sea against the Imperial Navy. All ships were scrapped except for Vasa Sverdlov herself which was converted into a museum ship.
