Nakajima Ki-115 "Tsurugi"

25.2k LeonardoEngineering  4.9 years ago

History:

The Nakajima Ki-115 Tsurugi ("Sabre") was a one-man kamikaze aircraft developed by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force in the closing stages of World War II in 1945.
The aircraft's intended purpose was to be used in kamikaze attacks on Allied shipping and the invasion fleet expected to be involved in the invasion of Japan, Operation Downfall, which in the end did not take place due to, you know, a little boy and a fat man.

Because the Japanese High Command thought that Japan did not have enough obsolete aircraft to use for kamikaze attacks, it was decided that huge numbers of cheap, simple suicide planes should be constructed quickly in anticipation of the invasion of Japan.

(Tsurugi Kanji, meaning "Sword" or "Sabre")

Three days in the making, because I couldn't wait to try the new Funky Tree features!
And I also needed to create my first working cockpit, so, why not killing two birds with one stone?

DISCLAIMER

I tried keeping the flight characteristics of this model as close to the real one, as well as the scale, and the weight. This aircraft isn't easy to fly, a little price to pay for realism.
This aircraft features a realistic cockpit and a rebuilt Nakajima Sakae Radial Engine.

Please, let me know your opinions by leaving your feedback in the comments, it would be really appreciated!

Armament:

1 x 800Kg Bomb (attached to the fuselage)

Instructions:

Camera 1 for Cockpit View
Camera 2 for Aiming Mode
Cockpit Camera for Fixed Cockpit View
AG 1 to separate landing gears , and remember, this is a one way ride.
AG 2 to Arm the bomb , I suggest using Camera 1 during the whole process.
VTOL to Lower Flaps
Trim to Trim Elevator

  • The aircraft take off speed is at around 180 Km/h, with lowered flaps.
  • Cruising altitude is 3500 metres. Follow route to chosen target, then prepare for attack phase.
  • To achieve the best possible result, a 30° Dive Angle is recommended when attacking the target.
  • Any direct hit by the nose section of the aircraft will cause the payload to explode, with devastating results.

If you liked this aircraft, why don't you take a look at my previous designs?

@LeonardoEngineering Yep, something's definitely wrong -the 151 ft2 wing area all seems to be in the bomb's fins, or thereabouts :s

@SimplyPlain I think you might have a problem there, as I tried to download the plane on three different devices and still works just fine 😕

@LeonardoEngineering you could say that... the ailerons are moving -the plane, however, is not.

Hard to imagine this as a kamikaze plane -how do you hit anything with a plane that doesn't even respond if you want it to change direction? I imagine most of these just passed their targets and were never seen again :D :D

One of the new features of this updates is the possibility to name your weapons differently, all you have to do is creating a new property via Xml or using Overload mod, in this way:
    name| (Weapon new name)
