Dornier Do-217

1,069 ImLvLiCHN  one month ago

Do-217 was a twin engine heavy bomber manufactured by Nazi Germany during World War II. In order to replace the old Do-17 and under pressure from Junker's Ju-87 bomber, the Do-217 twin engine bomber was developed at the request of the German government. Before the introduction of the He-177, the Do-217 was the largest bomber of the German Air Force, with a larger payload and range than the He-111 and Ju-87, making her less maneuverable. Germany attempted to pilot her for dive bombing attacks by installing speed bumps under the wings of the Do-217, but it turned out that the Do-217 was not suitable for high-speed dive bombing. The Do-217 has many modifications, initially featuring a stepped cockpit, but later also being converted into a night fighter and reconnaissance aircraft.

@RepublicofWrightIsles Just like the JU-88, it was used as a bomber in the early stages of the war. Later, for certain reasons such as heavy air defense missions, it was changed to fighter jets

@RepublicofWrightIsles DO-217 was initially designed as a replacement for the old-fashioned DO-17. Initially, a stepped cockpit was adopted. This modification was later changed to a heavy fighter/night fighter. Later, a bubble cockpit was adopted. Just like He-111. This is the version of the bomber

How do posts like this barely get attention, yet I go from 500-1000 points in an hour by making bad planes!? This is unfair treatment :(
