The DAC-J1E, a development of the DAC-J1, was a more heavily armed but slightly less maneuverable J1D. It had more engine power, making it faster, but also added weight, on top of the weight from the 2 30mm cannons and 1 .50 cal machine gun. It was used by the Japanese as a low altitude interceptor, typically from 15-20k feet at most.
