For SimplePlanes

Disclaimer: Information is fictional and there are no spoilers for ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN.

”He sure is foolish, isn’t he?”

”Yup, he sure is.”

F/A-18F Super Hornets saw extensive use by the OMDF during the 2019 Lighthouse War and were the main aircraft of the 444th Squadron, “Spare,” an Osean penal unit tasked with deception of the enemy and missions deemed too dangerous for regular forces. Pilots in the 444th were given Sin Lines based on the severity of their crimes, with the highest being attained by Trigger, the only pilot with three Sin Lines. By 2014, limited numbers of International Union Peacekeeping Forces (IUN-PKF) F/A-18F’s were modified to use electromagnetic launchers (EML) and during the Lighthouse War, Osean F/A-18F’s had access to EML’s.

Author's Notes
- Fuel and gun ammo is unlimited.
- On takeoff from runways, I recommend 50% flaps with 20% trim. Get to around 300 km/h and give slight taps for the pitch to avoid tail striking. (For keyboard users) From the carrier, use 100% flaps.
- On landing, use the trim to achieve your glide slope and adjust using pitch. (For keyboard users)
- Overpitch allows for cobra maneuver.
- To represent Avril Mead’s modifications to Trigger’s aircraft, afterburner thrust has been increased by 10%.
- EML aim assistance uses SenSkysh’s auto aim FT.
- Airburst input uses reverse-engineered code from Guyfolk's railguns.
- EML uses V's linear actuator.
- The EML has +/-5 degrees of aim assistance and automatically leads the target. It’s effective range is 1 to 10 km for air targets.
- The EML has 7 rounds since that’s how many I thought could realistically fit with how I made it. Its muzzle velocity is 3000 m/s, which is on par with real railgun systems in development.

Weapons Changelog
Uses [RD] Weapons Balancing Version 1.3.

New Weapons
- Electromagnetic Launcher: Hardpoint mounted railgun with moderate aim assistance.

The gun on this plane doesn't deactivate when you disable AG8, is that intended?

@Ded the thing about the E and MTD are that they have very good options for either role, with the E having 6AAMs, which are one of my favorite A2As, and having the TLS, which Ive never used.
The S/MTD has the HPAA and HVAA options for air to air as well as the FAEB, so its pretty good at everything.
I mean you could always PLSL with the C. That's always fun.
(but yes I have all DLCs)

    @ReinMcDeer @Griffon1 The only big issue is that it obviously sets aside a good chunk of the aircraft roster. If I can remember the specific route I'm taking is;
    .
    M1-4 - F-16C, Mage Squadron markings.
M5-10 - Start F-104 or MiG-21, F-4E in mission 6, F-14D (could use the -14A if you have the TGM DLC) in Mission 7 and 8, and I THINK F-18F Mission 9. Mission 10 is the first F-15 selection as story-wise I interpret Trigger's arc as being trusted enough with 'the good stuff,' as it were. Spare Squadron markings, naturally.
M11-20 - Any flavor of F-15, though I personally haven't used the S/MTD. The primary mission focus determines which variant due to SP weapon choices (mostly ground attack? F-15E or the S/MTD.) LRSSG markings, as expected.

@Ded I don't give the older aircraft enough love in that game
except that one time I did the MG only run with a MiG-21

Great build. Unfortunately however, we do not allow computers on prison grounds. Solitary. NOW.

    @Ded That's actually really cool

I always thought the F-15C was weird choice to use for the LRSSG since even their very first mission is a ground attack mission, and the C variant is not known for it's A2G weapon selection. I always thought it would make much more sense for the LRSSG to use the E variant instead, since that's an actual true multirole, without too much cosmetic difference.

Any F-15 variant? that means the S/MTD is fair game. FAEB Time.

@Griffon1 Actually I did/am doing a kind of fun playthrough where the plane selection is determined by the plot.
    .
Start in the F-16 all the way to Mission 4, with top parts.
    .
When in Spare Squadron start by flying the F-104, F-4, or MiG-21 stock. Slowly upgrade to better planes and better parts until the last Spare Squadron mission where you fly the F-15C. Also use the Queen's custom as desired for this part since Avril's there.
    .
In the LRSSG fly any variation of F-15, but the C variant is the primary one. Top of the line parts except Queen's custom. Save that part for mission 20 when it makes sense Avril can be there to work on your plane.

I thought Trigger's canonical aircraft while in Spare Sq was the F-15C?
