the 4th Boeing 777-2H6ER delivered to Malaysia Airlines, painted in the special "Freedom of Space" colors.
Aptly named "Heliconia", the livery is painted on the aircraft in September 2005, joining its sibling 9M-MPB "Hibiscus", a Boeing 747-4H6 painted in a similarly themed livery, but with red colors, which was painted in July of the same year. These two liveries would paint the sky with their stunning colors, instantly becoming a favorite amongst aviation enthusiasts worldwide.
The scheme would last for 3 years until MPB and MRD were painted back to its original colors on May and September 2008, respectively. The former would serve the airline until they decided to retire the aircraft in April 2012, while the latter would stay in Malaysia Airlines' fleet until its untimely demise on 17 July 2014 where it was shot down over the war-torn Donbass region in eastern Ukraine, being misidentified by Russian-backed separatist forces as an enemy military aircraft. [Malaysia Airlines flight 17 Registration is 9M-MRD]
